return of the 15 minute poem

northern california mid-morning
a bee drowses skims a friend's
too-soon too-late scotch.
up early he stalks life,
hung with nets,
overpocketed.

wander to the side garden
where showy pink geraniums dazzle.
a friend's bra splays on patio
stone, offers sly smile.

later on i'll drizzle honey
over yogurt, a message
to you, a mess, a spooning.

absences flower between us.

and yet we are both here
half-wild, ungreedy, wishing
ghostly spores at would-be
transpire.

broom in hand, i disperse the dust,
the first bending of
clay in sculptural advances
toward something i don't
even try to guess at anymore.

Friendship, Rough Seas, Rocky Shores, Safe Harbor ~~~~~~~

"Gotta run. Getting an MRI, birthday shopping."

"An MRI ... Why? Are they checking to see if your brain's still there?"

This is the kind of shit your best friend says to you and you laugh and everything's better, instantly. Because you love him and he loves you and you know that, wherever you go, you'll have each others' backs. You have deep respect for him, his wisdom, love, generosity, silliness, insight, vision, imagination and humor. You're well aware there no one else like him and that you are well and truly blessed that he happened into your life and decided to stick around.
