Re-realizing that I've been without cable TV for 16 of the past 20 years. No wonder I don't have the pop culture reference points most people I know do.

Also realized that I watched my last music videos in the early 90s -- last with the exception of the ones my brother's shown me when I've visited Dover or the ones I've watched on YouTube. In Boston, I forced Anne and Chrisanna to watch "Athens Georgia Inside Out" and "Losing My Religion" (REM) so many times we started keeping a log on the fridge.

Interesting essay on Facebook and Friendship.

Don't agree completely (with the writer or pretty much anyone), but he's astute.

This quote resonates most:

"Those who venture to criticize us perform a remarkable act of friendship," wrote Montaigne, "for to undertake to wound and offend a man for his own good is to have a healthy love for him."

Love and support are what friendships are made of, but so is the above, at least in my view. Of course, it took me awhile to discover that there aren't a lot of people who feel the same way. D'oh! and so it goes.

Okay, off to trim the wee Rosemary Christmaskah tree!
