Finished the Iain Sinclair book. Green-Appled today and picked up McCarthy's The Road (used) and Rick Moody's The Diviners (also used), as well as The Atlantic and Discover. Rewards for progress on the weight-loss front. ~~~~~~~~~~~ In other thoughts, less Faceboot has been good. After Bush fucked with us for 8 years, and after pushing so hard for Obama's election, we are a little fatigued -- especially when "progressives" turn glib and precious at exactly the wrong time. Then we try to be reasonable, turn irritable when people make assumptions, hit a "you're making me tired" wall and clamber up onto soapboxes. The right is so good at staying on shallow, repetitive, angry message. We can't afford to play coy or let down our guard. Democrats are sometimes really bad at battling through -- they become resentful, fractured, overly optimistic, they withdraw or take naps at inopportune times. Judge much? I try not to. But health care is an important issue. Spare me the jokes and hipsterly flat affect, the vanity of ego and arch -- timing isn't everything, but it's a lot, and now is not the time. I'm tired, sure, and irritated -- we all are. But we have not traveled this far to give up, have we? Don't allow the unravel, don't let slip the undo. Posted by Melissa Price at 11:18 PM
