ice cream melted on mars
it was all right because no one was there to eat it anyway

just past 10 AM she stirringly sat
iced coffee at a shady sidewalk table
soft still air, leafy green
and pacific blue overhead
and gold

springstepped with barely detained joy
just-marrieds held hands

around the block past rossi park
splashing through just-cut grass
and around again
they could have walked forever

and did.
